Making the clan
NOW THEN, before making a clan, you have to think of these few things.
1. Will other members be interested in the clan/clubs' main topic?
2. Is there already a clan of it?
If there is already one, don't make one. It's pretty much like duplicating a topic. Unless the other clan died long ago, and you want to replace it. ;3
3. Will you have enough time to run the clan?
Lots of time is needed to run a clan. Especially since you have to keep the clan active, update the member list and such.
4. If you are VERY bad in English, I suggest you do not make a clan.
Clans with bad English don't attract people very much. Yes, a few grammar mistakes and some slight spelling error are fine, but using TOTAL chatspeak and a lot of misspelled words and bad bad grammar, it's no good.
Also, the clan's first post, which is obviously by you, is also important. I think clans with this kind of first post is NOT GOOD
-Welcome to *insert clan name* feel free to sign up!
This is no good. There is no member list, no information as to what this clan is about and it looks so boring (to me at least)
-Yup this is a place for help! For starters, I need some help right now, along some new buddys would be very nice and friendly ^__^!
At least this person actually said what the clan is about, but it's so...so plain. Now I'm not saying it needs some fancy banners and everything, but I mean, it could be improved... ALOT. Looks more like he's asking for help than making a clan. This clan had only 2 posts and then died.
-This is where you talk about *insert subject here*.
Wait wha-?
What is a GOOD first post you ask? Well, member lists are obviously needed (unless it is a clan where EVERYBODY can post without signing up), introductions to the clan as well. Rules are also important, also, though this is not really needed, happenings in the clan. Such as the beggining of a clan contest, the clan gets forums, there is a new co-owner etc.etc.etc.
Now then, even the clan TITLE may effect the number of members. MAY. But this is really my own opinion. I'm not saying you need to use lots of fancy symbols, but, well, titles with all lowercase letters aren't very attracting, know what I mean? X3
Running the clan
Running the clan is something important for keeping the clan active and successful. Be sure to update whatever you have to update in the clan (especially the member list) as much as you can.
Activities are also quite important. They are not NECESSARY, but, well, they're fun for the clan, and might attract new members to join the clan.
If the members in your clan are breaking rules, report them. You don't want your clan to end up being closed down do you? X3
Spend time making your clan before posting it.
Never just think of a clan, spent two minutes making it, then post it right up. Most people would think there's no uniqueness in your clan at all. A good clan should at least spend 15 minutes getting the basics up.
Do not make a lot of un-unique clans
I've noticed some people keep making lots of clans that are not well made. Some of which are of similar topics and are similarly ran. Do not do this. It's quality rather than quantity that matters. In a different way of putting it, we would rather have one well made clan by you, than a bunch of horribly made clans. You should have two or three clans at the most. More than that would be ridiculous and hard to manage, unless you know you can manage it. If you have more clans than that with less than 30 pages each, I recommend closing some and focus on improving two or so clans.
Do not make some one a co-leader just for being the first member, just for asking, etc. .
Again, I've noticed a lot of clans making the first member a co-leader. I've also seen people making others co-leader just asking something along the lines, "Can I be co-leader?" Do not make people co-leader by a simple process of such. Co-leaders have to be people you can trust. A co-leader takes care of your clan while you are unable to. Let's say you have a very active and popular clan. You gave the co-leader position to the first person that joined. That person quit Teenager Talk. You are sick and cannot go on the computer. When you get better, you just have to hope that your co-leader and fateful members kept the clan active for you. If not, then your clan might die out. A good way to choose a co-leader is to pick some one that's positively active in the clan or make a long enough test to test their worth.
If making a clan for another country/continent
I ask that you please refrain from making a one nation only clan as it has been proved time and time again, the second a new member to these forums see a clan for their nation they post without paying attention to the rules first, and other members blatantly ignore the language rule. We have to clear up the spam constantly in such clans.
We have had various members attempt to make such clans and make their members follow the forum rules with no success. Even members who have been here a while and are well respected have tried and failed. Even putting up in hug letters "ONLY ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO BE USED" does not seems to deter them. This is the reason we close such clans since we get called to them within hours, even minutes of them being created due to rules being broken
Thank you and have a nice day.
